French club Nantes announced today, Tuesday, that it has signed striker Jean Kevin Augustin, despite the legal dispute between Leipzig and Leeds United of England over the player.

Last season, Augustine moved on loan from Leipzig to Leeds United, with a contract that includes a mandatory purchase of 21 million euros in the event Leeds United ascend to the Premier League. But Augustine played little role in Leeds United’s rise as he made only 3 matches with the team.

Leeds United claimed that the purchase clause was no longer binding, given that the promotion was decided only after June 30, following the suspension period due to the Corona pandemic, and that the player’s contract at that time had already expired.
