German midfielder Mesut Ozil has missed Arsenal’s squad for the Europa League this season.
Mystery still surrounds Ozil’s future at Arsenal, with coach Mikel Arteta insisting he be excluded.
Ozil, 31, has not played for the England team since March.
Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey, who recently transferred to the club for 45 million pounds, is mentioned in Arsenal’s 25-man squad.
Parti joined from Atletico Madrid on the last day of the summer transfer window.
Arsenal will play its first match in Group B in the Europa League group stage against Austria’s Rapid Vienna on 22 October.
In addition to Ozil, Arsenal’s squad was empty: Greek Socrates Papastathopoulos and Frenchman William Saliba.
Besides Rapid Vienna, Arsenal will also face in the group stage the teams of Dundalk of Ireland and his Norwegian birth.
Ozil’s contract with Arsenal is set to expire at the end of this season. Ozil joined the English team in 2013 for 42.4 million pounds, in a record deal at the time.
Ozil said on Tuesday he was willing to pay the man who plays the lucky charm of Arsenal. This came after it was revealed that the man, named Jerry Key, was among a group of 55 people the club decided to lay off.
