“I heard that, because I trained in Saudi Arabia for a short period as well,” Bilic said during the press conference when asked about the Saudi offer to Hijazi.
He added: “There has been interest in him from Saudi Arabia since I came to the club last summer.”
He continued: “He is a distinguished player, and he is also Egyptian, which makes him the focus of Saudi clubs’ interest.”
He continued: “But the situation is like last year. He wants to stay here. He is a great player and has come back to participate and I am grateful for his continuation with us.”
He added, “I did not want him to leave last year, and I like him this season. He is a high-class player. He is one of the few players on our list with previous experience in the Premier League.”
He concluded: “This is important, of course. He possesses tremendous experience and great quality, and it is distinguished for his presence in our list.”
The Egyptian international participated for the first time this season with West Brom in the Burnley match in the fifth round of the tournament, after he was absent for a while due to injury.
Hijazi played the full match alongside veteran defender Branislav Ivanovic, who also played for the first time for West Brom since joining the team at the start of the season.
Hegazy joined the Egyptian national team for the international stop in November.
