The Emirates Literature Foundation is hosting writer Avni Duchi in a special episode on the “Books Without Borders Club” audio blog, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize for Novel, competing with Hillary Mantell and Anne Tyler.
Avni’s novel deals with the charged relationship between a mother and her daughter in light of the mother’s suffering from dementia, and the events of the novel, which has achieved unrivaled success, take place in India and in our contemporary times.
The writer will talk about her mother’s reaction to the novel, and why she did not tell her husband, immediately, about her candidacy for the best literary award in the English-speaking world, as well as about her career in the world of writing, and the challenges she faced on her long journey on the path to success.
