The former champion of two different weights in the “UFC” organization for mixed martial arts, Daniel Cormier revealed the conversation that took place between him and the Russian Habib Nurmagomedov, after the latter’s victory over Justin Gaetje.
Cormier said in an interview published by the American network “ESPN MMA” on “YouTube”, that Habib told him that he refused to harm Gaetje because of my parents’ recent presence near the ring to support their son.
Cormier explained that the Russian hero could have tightened his grip on Gaetji’s consciousness to force him to surrender, but Habib was afraid that the American would be too painful and refuse to surrender.
Cormier pointed out that this is the reason that prompted Habib to change his mind while tightening his grip on Gaetje, to resort to another way to force him to surrender, which is tightening the screws on his neck with his legs and hands.
And forced Habib (32 years), his rival, Gaetji, to surrender in the second round of the fight that brought them together last Saturday in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi in the “UFC 254”.
This is the Russian champion’s 29th victory in his unbeaten professional career, while Gaetje, 31, was bitter for the third time in his career for 22 victories.
It is noteworthy that Habib, who maintained his title of champion of the “UFC” organization for mixed martial arts of lightweight, announced his retirement immediately after the end of his fight against Gaetji.
