And according to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiah, Al-Ahly club management has completely dismissed the contract with Marinho, and backed away from completing negotiations with Santos.

The Saudi newspaper indicated that the reason behind the withdrawal of the Al-Ahly administration from the Marinho deal is that the player suffered a severe leg injury with Nadas Santos, which would prevent him from participating for a month.

Mario Costa, 30, is good at playing on the right and left, and has a contract with Santos until December 2022.

The Brazilian midfielder has previously represented several Brazilian clubs; Gremio, Vitoria, Cruzeiro, Sierra, Goias and Internationale, in addition to China’s Changchun.

Disclosure of Al-Ahly’s offer to join Marinho

During the past few days, news had circulated that the Al-Ahly club management made an official offer to its counterpart at Santos, in order to buy the remaining period in Costa’s contract.

The news indicated that Al-Ahly’s offer to Santos officials came with a value of one million and 500 thousand dollars, “approximately 5.6 million Saudi riyals,” to persuade them to abandon Costa.
