Al-Muslim emphasizes the historical importance of the heritage area in Khorfakkan

His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, President of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, emphasized the historical importance of the heritage area in the city of Khorfakkan, which was inaugurated today by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which is located along the mountains and at the front of the creek and the port of fishermen and next to the vegetable and fish markets, indicating that The region has a great place in the hearts of the residents of Khorfakkan due to its old and ancient heritage.
In statements, Al-Musallam said that the restoration and maintenance work carried out on the area came to simulate reality, and we see it beautifully wandering over the valley channel as personal museums, houses for crafts and professions, cafes, a council for the elderly, a council for popular games, “the game of checkers”, all the way to the Khorfakkan fort .. and this diversity of buildings And the uses make the area a magnet for tourists and visitors.

Al-Musallam pointed out that all works in the heritage area were in line with the international obligations and standards recommended by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Ichrome Center for Cultural Heritage in order to preserve the tangible and intangible heritage.

He explained that the heritage area includes three main sections, the first of which is the fort, which includes a museum of antiquities, and the second is the Wadi Water Canal that embraces models of Emirati ships, “Shosh” that can be visited by tourists individually or collectively, and finally the market, which includes 100 stores, ranging from retail stores to restaurants. And cafes.

He noted that His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, visited the “Al-Rayaheen” hostel, which will include upon its inauguration a group of 19 old houses all enjoying various services, in addition to his visit to the Youth House, which represents one of the old houses in the heritage area and dates back to the fifties of the last century, where the house was It includes residential rooms, a store and a room to receive guests, and the hostel consists of five rooms distributed according to use in addition to a garden and a reception room, pointing out that the youth hostel belongs to the Youth Hostels Association and is intended for young adventurers and travelers, in addition to the presence of a museum for sports and another for agriculture and a museum for the memory of Khorfakkan.

Al-Muslim said that the heritage city in Khorfakkan is open to visitors and tourists all days of the year and the week from 9 in the morning until 9 in the evening except for the Museum of Traditional Crafts, which will be closed on Monday and the fort, which will be closed on Friday, indicating that according to the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, the city will witness days Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, weekly performances by the folk groups in the area before the hostel of the winds, the market, and in front of the fort. Training courses and workshops will be offered to visitors on some professions such as dyeing clothes, sock and some popular games.
