South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced today, Thursday, that six auto companies will recall more than 10,000 cars to repair technical defects.
The ministry mentioned that the six companies are BMW, Audi, German Mercedes-Benz, Italian-American Fiat Chrysler, British Jaguar Land Rover and Japanese Suzuki.The South Korean Yonhap News Agency indicated that this operation is the latest in a series of recall operations by South Korean car manufacturers and car importers due to problems with auto components.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said in a statement that the six companies recall a total of 10233 cars from 23 different models due to defective components and must be replaced.
The defects include a malfunction in the parking lights of the BMW XDrive 30D, a malfunction in the steering wheel system of the Jeep Wrangler from Fiat Chrysler, and some faults in the driver assistance program in the car A8 50 TDI. Audi quattro and defective rear spoiler for the GLB 220 from Mercedes-Benz.
The ministry stated that companies have begun to provide or offer repair and replacement services for free, as the owners of the target vehicles can call or visit repair centers and designated services in order to replace defective parts or fix the defect.
