Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the exceptional International Arabic Language Conference “Distance Education in Teaching the Arabic Language … Reality, Requirements, and Prospects”, organized by the Educational Center for the Arabic Language for the Gulf States, was launched on Sunday. In Sharjah, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, from 25 to 29 October, remotely, under the slogan “In Arabic we innovate.”
The conference was opened by Hussein Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, with the participation of Dr. Ali Al-Qarni, Director General of the Arab Education Office, Dr. Issa Al Hammadi, Director of the Center, and a number of specialists and lovers of the Arabic language, through the “Zoom” program.
Dr. Al-Hammadi delivered a welcoming speech in which he referred to the launch of the remote conference, given the exceptional circumstances the world is going through, as a result of the Corona pandemic, which imposed the application of distance education programs. He explained that the conference program includes 15 scientific seminars on best practices and experiences, with the participation of 89 experts and researchers.
He stressed the importance of the conference in being aware of the latest developments and creative initiatives, benefiting from global experiences and successful reports, and spreading awareness and taking joint responsibility towards the Arabic language, taking into account its characteristics, to keep pace with the rapid scientific and technological developments, in light of the challenges of the era of globalization and technology, and to make it in line with the requirements of the times.
The conference aims to benefit from international experiences and expertise in distance education, apply them to reality, present the latest scientific studies and research in distance education and its link to performance, and enhance it, as it stimulates participation and distinguished performance.
And reviewing educational educational theories that help transfer distance education to application, and highlighting the importance of cultural and ethical frameworks for its applications and practices. In addition to raising awareness of the role of distance education environments in stimulating participation and distinguished performance, foreseeing its future in the Arab world and defining the challenges facing its development.
While Hussein Al Hammadi said, “The Ministry pays great attention to the Arabic language, in an accelerating time, languages compete at the forefront of the scene in order to find a global position for it, to possess knowledge and influential sciences that are used to enhance our position, our standing and our development in various fields of active life. In light of the new reality, it has become imperative for us to take a serious stand to deal with this emergency, because our responsibility is great towards our students, and our Arabic language, within a framework of partnership and complementarity, and this is certainly the goal of the conference and its noble endeavor.

He added, “What enhances our confidence in success is your interest and the participation of thought leaders, specialists, researchers, educators and those interested in the mother tongue, within this conference, which is full of vital issues, files and studies that will discuss and discuss the best ways, practices and theories, to establish the best model for achieving effectiveness in teaching Arabic from a distance. And measure its impact ».
He said, “We look forward to making Arabic education in line with the requirements of the age, and to benefit from experiences, initiatives, best practices and experiences in this context. Arabic is not just a language we teach our students, but rather our identity, and the intellectual container that contains the culture, history, approach, successes and future of an entire nation.”
Dr. Al-Qarni said, “I am pleased that our conference today in the Arab Rehab, which we cherish, is a language to address us, a pulse for our communication, a symbol of our identity, a basis for our unity, and before all that a language for our worship, after receiving its miracle from heaven, the best of mankind, and the seal of the prophets, Muhammad bin Abdullah The illiterate prophet, who conveyed the message with her, gave the trust and the honor of the entire universe, with what he delivered from the speech of the Lord of the Worlds.
He added: This heavenly honor, which our language has attained, places upon us the honor of responsibility to preserve it, to work to facilitate its teaching and learning, and to make scientific and research efforts to keep Arabic preserving its specificity, capable of expressing science products in its various branches, and absorbing the data of contemporary changes in science. And technical.
He explained that Arabic is a focus of interest rooted in the objectives of the office, since its inception, as he sensed, through the visions of the founders, that the essence of the targeted educational renaissance would only be a matter of caring for Arabic.
The center gave a visual presentation on its most important achievements during this year, in training, conferences, seminars, scientific publications and programs.
Dr. Badr Al-Harbi said: The development in information and communication that the world is witnessing today makes it imperative for researchers, in teaching Arabic, to benefit from these technological advances and employ them in distance education. Pointing out that this exceptional conference allows researchers and those interested in teaching Arabic to provide the juice of their ideas and creativity in the service of the language of the Noble Qur’an, as teaching Arabic remotely faces a great challenge in teaching language skills and elements, or methods of measurement and evaluation, because of the technical capabilities it requires.

During the exceptional Arab International Conference, three seminars were held that included 16 research papers on various topics; The first dealt with 5 papers, titled “Distance Education and Strategies for Teaching Arabic Language,” the second dealt with 5 papers titled “Quality of Innovative Arabic Language Curricula in Light of Distance Education Requirements”, and the third titled “Standards for employing technology in teaching Arabic.”
He also reviewed a number of topics, including: readings on issues and problems of teaching Arabic at a distance, “causes and methods of treatment,” and cooperative learning, “a proposed teaching strategy for teaching Arabic at a distance,” and factors that advance students’ behavioral and academic levels during the distance education period, “a case study on It advances the level of fifth and sixth graders in the Arabic language classes, ”distance learning“ an Arab philosophy and a modern vision, and quality standards in designing distance education lessons, ”and the teaching of Arabic to non-native speakers in the Emirates.
