The Health Cluster in Makkah Al-Mukarramah has doubled its capacity for the intensive care beds in all hospitals in the assembly to confront the emerging corona virus, and the infected cases to three times, as part of efforts to improve the level of health services in the region, and improve them to meet the health needs of citizens and residents.

The director of critical care services at the Health Cluster in Makkah, Dr. Qassem Hassan Al-Khatib, explained that since the first moments of the pandemic, the leaders of the health cluster and all its hospital and intensive care departments have been up to the event, preparedness, receiving and increasing affected cases, by working to increase the number of beds to keep pace with work needs and patients Both by developing and implementing a number of regulations and regulations for the gathering and applying them in line with the laws, regulations and recommendations of the Ministry of Health to deal with the emerging corona virus with regard to hypnosis and methods of treating cases, as well as transferring them between the gathering hospitals.

Al-Khatib added that the number of beds for intensive care in the Health Cluster was 140, and due to the high increase in cases, work has been done in an integrated manner between all sectors and with great support from our wise government and the follow-up of the Ministry of Health to raise the capacity to three times. Which contributed greatly to contain the increasing number of cases and to provide quality and high-quality services.

He went on to say: Modern devices of specific value have been used in providing medical service to new Corona patients, represented by the blood oxygenator device at King Abdullah Medical City, which performs lung and heart work for critical cases, and 10 cases have benefited from it, praise be to God, all of which have recovered.

It is worth noting that this step comes in continuation to what the Ministry of Health recently announced about the addition of approximately 3,500 intensive care beds in various health sector hospitals in all regions of the Kingdom. With the aim of providing the utmost protection for the safety of citizens and residents, and in continuing to apply the highest standards of prevention, and to take proactive preventive measures to address the emerging (Corona) virus.
