Surgeons at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi have performed robotic surgery, the first of its kind in Integrated Medical City.
Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City is the largest hospital in the United Arab Emirates for serious and complex medical care. It is also a joint venture between Mayo Clinic and the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, “SEHA”.
The surgery was carried out simultaneously with the launch of a comprehensive robotic surgery program in the hospital in order to enable and enhance minimally invasive surgery and improve clinical outcomes.
Dr. Matthew Getman, Medical Director at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, said that this achievement solidifies our endeavors to transform Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City into a destination for complex medical care, and supports the efforts of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to establish its position as an international center for health care.
