Samsung shuts down its only TV factory in China – Economy – the last deal


(MENAFN – Al-Bayan) Date: September 07, 2020 A spokesman said today, Monday, that Samsung Electronics has decided to stop production from its only TV factory in China by the end of November, in the latest move by the South Korean company to transfer production from the second largest economy in the world.

The spokesman said the Tianjin TV Factory is the only production center for Samsung Electronics TVs in China.

Samsung said in a statement issued earlier that the decision is part of ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency in its production facilities.

Yonhap News Agency reported today that the factory has about 300 workers.

Samsung declined to comment on the number of factory workers, but said some workers and equipment were expected to be retained.
