Macron is putting pressure on Lebanese politicians as the deadline for forming a government nears

In response to a question about whether Paris will accept a delay in forming the government, spokeswoman Agnes von der Maul said that the Lebanese political forces have been repeatedly reminded of the need to quickly form a government to be able to implement basic reforms.

She added, “All Lebanese political forces supported this goal. It is up to them to translate this pledge into actions without delay. This is their responsibility.”

French President Emmanuel Macron said during his recent visit to Lebanon that Lebanese politicians pledged to complete a new government within 15 days, provided that the deadline agreed upon with France expires tomorrow, Tuesday.
