Foreign Minister: Opening the borders while adhering to health measures will revive the economy – Saudi News


Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said today (Thursday) that the opening of international borders in line with health measures and national regulations “will help the recovery of our countries’ economy and the prosperity of our peoples.”

Bin Farhan added during his presidency of an extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers from countries Twenty Group – Through video communication – that this will restore hope to everyone in overcoming the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

During the meeting, the foreign ministers pledged to strengthen international cooperation in response to the pandemic, noting the importance of opening borders, reuniting families, strengthening measures to achieve economic prosperity, and discussing raising the level of preparedness for future crises, and ways to coordinate precautionary measures across borders in order to protect lives.

They expressed their condolences for the great loss of life and the tragic effects of the pandemic, praising the efforts and dedication of the frontline workers for the sake of public health and safety.

The ministers and representatives of international organizations discussed ways to coordinate precautionary measures across borders in order to protect lives, and the Kingdom’s G20 Presidency will continue its work with the countries of the group, invited countries, and regional and international organizations to enhance global cooperation and restore growth.
