Corona threatens health services in the region

          <p>The Coronavirus has not only affected about 30 million people around the world, and caused the death of more than 900,000, but also affected basic health services in more than half of the countries in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, described the situation in the countries of the Region (22 countries) as “very worrying”, due to the increase in cases every day, during a hypothetical press conference. “Another worrying issue is that health services have become limited, as the priority given to basic health services has decreased,” he said, referring to a survey whose results showed that basic health services have been partially or completely stopped in nearly half of the region’s countries.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Chemical Holding Group announced through its pharmaceutical sector and the Saudi International Trade Company Ltd. (SITCO Pharma) signing a memorandum of understanding with the “Russian Direct Investment Fund”, to provide and distribute the vaccine in Saudi Arabia.
