Bartomeu made his last offer to Messi’s father, where a press report referred to what was stated at the meeting of the two parties.
A press report revealed the details of the meeting that brought together Barcelona club president Josep Maria Bartomeu, and Lionel Messi’s father, Jorge Messi, who is his son’s business agent.
According to the Spanish newspaper, Mundo Deportivo, Bartomeu refused Messi’s departure and told his father that this matter would never be negotiated.
The newspaper pointed out that the meeting lasted for an hour and a half, and witnessed the presence of Barcelona’s vice-president, Javier Bordas, Messi’s brother and the family’s lawyer.
The newspaper added that Bartomeu told Messi’s father that he wanted the latter to remain, because he was a major focus of the new coach Ronald Koeman’s project.
Bartomeu insisted that the offer to renew Messi’s two-year contract was still valid, stressing at the same time that he would not negotiate in any way the departure of Messi.
Messi’s father went to Barcelona to meet the president of the Catalan club, on Tuesday, and his first statement upon arrival at Barcelona was that it was difficult for Messi to stay with the club.
