The fourth generation smart amplifier (Echo) features a new ball design and improved audio performance. But there is a bigger change, and it is a speech recognition unit within the device, which means that voice commands are processed locally, which speeds up the execution of those commands.
The new Echo device features what Amazon calls the AZ1 Neural Edge unit that processes voice commands using local algorithms to recognize speech using machine learning technology, before sending commands to the cloud, which will also speed up response to commands.
Amazon says the new Echo will combine the features of both the third-generation Echo and the Echo Plus, and include a hub to support the open source smart home standard Zigbee, as well as work with Amazon Sidewalk’s LAN system.
The new Echo device will be available in three colors: blue, white and gray, and it will be on the market from October 22nd. The company has opened the door to the initial request for the device through its website.
In addition to the fourth generation of the Echo device, Amazon announced a new version of its Echo Dot, which has also become a spherical shape.
The new version of the Echo Dot comes with two options, the first: cheaper without the built-in LED screen and at $ 49.99, and the other with the screen and an increase of $ 10 in price.
In addition to the standard version of the Echo Dot, Amazon has launched a new version of the children’s version of the Echo Dot Kids Edition that will be available at a price of $ 59.99. The device comes with designs for animal faces.
It is noteworthy that the new Echo Dot will be launched on the market from October 22, and is available for initial order as of Thursday, with the indication that the Echo Dot with LED screen will be launched later on November 5. The Echo Dot Kids Edition will be launched from December 9th.
