Short video app TikTok said Thursday, August 20 that it has removed more than 380,000 videos in the US for violating the hate speech policy so far since the start of the year.

The app, which is owned by Chinese company ByteDance, said it has also blocked more than 1,300 accounts for posting hate content.

US President Donald Trump also reportedly ordered ByteDance last week to withdraw TikTok operations in the US within 90 days, in the latest attempt to ramp up pressure on the Chinese company over concerns about the safety of the personal data it deals with.

US officials had expressed concerns about the possibility of transferring user information to the Chinese government.

On the other hand, TikTok has said that it has never provided user data to China and that it will not do so if asked.
