Today, the UAE celebrates the International Humanitarian Day, which was devoted this year to celebrating humanitarian workers who devoted themselves to providing aid and helping others in all parts of the world, despite the exceptional and harsh conditions imposed by the spread of the new Corona virus (Covid) 19).

This year, the occasion bears great symbolism for the UAE, which has played and continues to play a prominent role in strengthening international efforts to alleviate the repercussions of (Covid 19), after its medical aid reached more than 107 countries around the world to contribute to containing the epidemic.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler of Abu Dhabi in the Al Dhafra region, and president of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, confirmed that the UAE, led by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, is strongly contributing to improving areas of response to humanitarian crises around The world, through its qualitative initiatives that provide appropriate solutions to reduce the repercussions of disasters on humans, stressing that the state carries out its responsibilities to alleviate human suffering, and proceed with the approach it has taken to promote global humanitarian principles, and its continuous support for the afflicted and affected victims of conflicts and disasters.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan said, in a statement on the occasion of the International Humanitarian Day, which falls on the nineteenth of August of each year, that the UAE has become an important station to support the march of international humanitarian work and move it to sustainable programs and projects that achieve security and stability for the vulnerable segments. His Highness referred to the great humanitarian role that the state has undertaken to limit the repercussions of the global “Covid 19” pandemic, and its initiatives that have benefited dozens of countries around the world, by sending medical aid to them to help them deal with the pandemic and limit its spread on their lands. These initiatives embodied the UAE vision. In spreading the values ​​of benevolence, giving and giving, and affirming the universality of the humanitarian mission undertaken by the state and its wise leadership.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan said: “On the International Humanitarian Day, we must be accompanied by the mention of the rich legacy that the champion of humanity left to us, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, who set a unique model in humanitarian work, He presented to the world an experience that was unparalleled in preserving human dignity, solidarity and compassion among human beings, so that the name of our beloved country was linked to good work and its various fields.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan renewed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its humanitarian efforts around the world, and adopting initiatives that make the required difference in providing comprehensive humanitarian care services to those who deserve it wherever and whenever they want, indicating in this regard that the Emiratis are currently present in a number of arenas. They are witnessing humanitarian crises and natural disasters, especially Lebanon, Yemen and other countries, despite their complex conditions. They provide support and assistance to the victims and the afflicted, and work to provide better living conditions for the population there.

His Highness said that the legacy that the UAE has achieved in this field, and the position it has reached imposes on it a greater commitment to humanity, and places upon it an important role in improving life and warding off dangers from the shoulders of the weak in the world, and his Highness referred in this regard to recent international reports, Which placed the UAE as the largest donor of humanitarian and development aid in comparison to its national income in the world in recent years.

His Highness added: “This achievement reinforces the humanitarian responsibility entrusted to the state, increases its balance in the arenas of giving and giving and pushes it to provide more in order to improve life and support the weak.”

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan noted the state’s permanent efforts to reduce poverty, hunger and malnutrition, and alleviate suffering in the least developed countries, by providing basic life requirements for those who deserve it, especially food, which is a protective bulwark from diseases, epidemics, homelessness and deprivation.

His Highness added: “The good forces in the world must make the International Humanitarian Day an occasion and a good opportunity to mobilize energies and capabilities, exchange views and ideas, and coordinate programs and operations to save the lives of millions of people who are threatened by dangers.”

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan appealed to the international community and its international organizations to make more efforts, activate partnerships and enhance coordination processes around programs and initiatives to alleviate the suffering caused by the enormity of disasters and crises, dry up the sources of asylum and displacement in the regions and inflamed squares, and develop solutions and innovate solutions to the issue of climate change. The rise in global temperature, and averting its repercussions represented in torrents, floods and natural disasters resulting from that, and His Highness called on donors to strengthen their support for specialized international organizations to play their role in the best way, and to meet humanitarian needs in light of the pressing economic conditions.

His Highness affirmed that the Emirates Red Crescent Authority has recently expanded its relief activities and operations, and strengthened its response to the critical humanitarian situations that some peoples of the region face, and their actions have been determined and challenged.
