I reservations about the cause of the fire

A spokesman for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Behrouz Kamalundi, said today (Sunday) that the fire that broke out last month at the Natanz nuclear facility was the result of an act of sabotage.

“Kamalondi” indicated that the security authorities would reveal the cause of the explosion in a timely manner.

Iranian officials indicated that the fire caused severe damage that would slow down the development of advanced centrifuges used to enrich uranium.

They added that Tehran would respond to any country that carried out such attacks.

The Natanz facility for enriching uranium, which is mostly located underground, is one of several Iranian facilities subject to inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency of the United Nations.
