Traffic accidents in the Emirate of Sharjah, during the blessed Eid Al-Adha holiday during the period from July 30 to August 1, recorded “zero” deaths, while the call center at the Central Operations Room received 12313 phone calls, between emergency and non-emergency.
Colonel Jassim Bin Haddah, Director of Operations Department of Sharjah Police, explained that the Central Operations Room received 11,406 phone calls at the emirate level, during the blessed Eid Al-Adha holiday, through the number “999” designated for emergency cases, while “907” received non-urgent calls to the number 901.
The Director of Operations Department confirmed the increase in the number of incoming calls to the Chamber’s call center during this period, pointing out that most of them are calls related to minor accident reports, general inquiries and police services provided during the holiday.
Colonel Bin Haddah stated that the Operations Department received calls around the clock, according to advanced systems in receiving communications, whether urgent or non-emergency from members of the public, and that the speed of response in important and urgent reports reached 5 minutes from the time of receiving the communication, until the periodic arrival of the event site .
Adding that this rate is one of the best indicators at the national level, despite the demographic diversity, and the diversity of cultures and languages within the emirate.
The Director of Operations Department called on the public not to hesitate to call the emergency phone 999, in case they are exposed to any emergency that they may face at any time, and by calling 901 for other inquiries.
On the traffic side, Lt. Col. Muhammad Allai Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department, confirmed the success of the traffic plan that was developed and implemented by the administration during the blessed Eid Al-Adha holiday, with the participation of various units in Sharjah Police.
Lt. Col. Allai explained that, despite the heavy traffic flow in the streets and internal and external roads, and the large presence of visitors in the various parks in the emirate, the intense traffic presence and public awareness of traffic safety measures contributed to not recording deaths during the holiday period.
And that the Traffic Department has taken all measures in accordance with the prepared plan, to ensure traffic safety and facilitate traffic in front of visitors, praising the cooperation of the public with traffic men, which constituted the success factor achieved in achieving “zero” deaths, praising at the same time the efforts made by all Employees of the administration and all police units in Sharjah Police, throughout the days of the Happy Eid holiday, which had a great impact on the smooth and smooth flow of traffic and in a manner appropriate for the efforts of the Ministry of Interior.
