Rooney warns Manchester City of Real Madrid’s “counterattacks”

Former England captain Wayne Rooney has warned Manchester City against the difficulty of keeping his nets clean in his next leg in the second leg of the Champions League 16 round next Friday, and that his defense line may face a real challenge against Real Madrid, the Spanish champion.

The English team, coached by Spanish Pep Guardiola, won away from home 2-1 last March before the first European Club Championship was stopped due to the pandemic of the Corona Virus emerging “Covid-19”, but Rooney, who crowned the title with Manchester United in 2008, confirmed that City Great opportunity to win the title for the first time as well.

“This is perhaps the best chance for City to win the Champions League,” Rooney wrote in his column in the “Sunday Times.” Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is suspended, and this is a huge loss for Real’s defense. I think City will score, my only question is the effectiveness of his back line.

Ronnie Real added that he will target the City players in the heart of the defense, and this is a concern because this season, City lost to all other teams between the top six at the Premier League level this season, and therefore it turned out that Guardiola’s team was having trouble keeping the best teams out of the net.

Rooney said he expected Real to leave his opponent City to take possession of the ball and then surprise him with counterattacks, and added: I saw Zinedine Zidane doing this during his first period in training Real Madrid during great confrontations with teams applying the Guardiola style and achieved success in that, but I bet on Citi so far, he does not have to make up and scoring so that he can endure a 1-0 loss and advance to the next round.
