Spanish club Elche announced today, Wednesday, the appointment of Argentine Jorge Almiron as the new coach of the team returning to the Spanish First Division “La Liga”,

The 49-year-old former midfielder won the 2016 Argentinian League and the Copa Libertadores in 2017 as coach with Lanus.

According to Elche, he will coach the team for a season and will be formally presented next week.

This is his first coaching assignment in Europe after testing in Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and with the Saudi Al-Shabab club in 2019.

Almiron succeeds local coach Juan Jose Rojo Martin “Pacita”, one of the stars of “Martinez Valero” stadium, since the team’s rise to the first division was secured last Sunday at the expense of Girona in the supplement.

The expiring 52-year-old Bachita, who arrived at the club in 2018 when he was in the third division, has not been renewed and has led him to rise in two consecutive seasons.
