Former Bayern Munich striker retires from football

Former Bayern Munich striker Sandro Wagner announced on Sunday that he is officially retiring from football.

“I am very grateful that football gave me a wonderful life, I managed to achieve all my goals and my dreams, wearing the national shirt made me particularly proud,” Wagner said in comments reported by the German newspaper Bild.

Lewandowski’s replacement during his second game with Bayern 2018-2019 surprised football fans in Germany, especially as the former international player retired at the age of 32.

Wagner played with several prominent German clubs before concluding his career in China with Tianjin Teda.

Wagner has won the Bundesliga twice, with Bayern Munich 2007-08 and 2017-2018.
