British boxer Dillian White challenged his Russian counterpart Alexander Povetkin, who had been temporarily winning the World Heavyweight Champion title of “WBC”, in a retaliatory confrontation.
White, 32, praised the knockout, in which he lost the match against his Russian opponent in the fifth round of the match, which was held in the British city of Brentwood last week.
“It was that heavy punch that could turn the whole fight,” White wrote on his Instagram account. White called for a second showdown, saying, “Let’s introduce our fans to the second part.”
The Russian side did not hide its readiness for a heavyweight revenge match, according to Andrei Ryabinsky, Povetkin’s promoter, hinting that revenge could take place in Russia.
The 40-year-old Russian boxer won the Provisional World Champion belt according to the World Boxing Council (WBC), and Povetkin thus became an official candidate to win the world champion belt where he will face the victor in the fight between the British, Tyson Fury, and the American, Dunty Wilder, which will take place in December 2020.
Povetkin achieved 36 victories, 25 of them by knockout, against two defeats and one draw.
