Lyon coach Rudi Garcia confirmed that his team had no limits after his sudden and resounding elimination of Manchester City from the Champions League quarter-finals on Saturday, and that surpassing Bayern Munich in the golden square would require “heroic action.”

Lyon beat Guardiola’s men 3-1 in the Portuguese capital Lisbon, where the competitions are completed with a mini-championship system and elimination from one match, thanks to two fatal goals for substitute Musa Dembele in the final minutes, where the 1-1 draw remained the master of the situation until the 79th minute.
The victory of the French team against the star-packed City, which is considered one of the richest clubs in the world, came after it was surprisingly eliminated nine-time Italian champion Juventus in the final price.

However, the task for the Bavarian giants on Wednesday will be the most difficult after the latter humiliated Barcelona by sweeping them 8-2 in the quarter-finals.
“We knew who we would face next,” Garcia said. “We have eliminated Juventus, who was one of the favorites to win the Champions League, and Manchester City, who was also a favorite.”
The former Marseille and Roma coach added: “It will be the same for Bayern, but based on what the players have shown, we can logically hope to skip another role and this is what we will prepare for.”
Lyon finished seventh in the domestic league, which is a disappointing result for the second richest French club (after Paris Saint-Germain), so winning the Champions League is his only and last hope to compete in Europe next season.
Lyon reached continental competitions in all the previous 23 seasons, but he never passed the Champions League semi-finals, and ironically, the last time he reached this role was also against Bayern in 2010, but he lost.
Garcia, who was appointed head of Lyon’s coaching staff last October, added, “Confidence is growing in the team, but we will not be the candidates to win and once again it will take us heroic action to qualify.”
