A member of the US Congress leads a campaign to stop the deportation of the Lebanese from America

Representative in the US House of Representatives, Rashida Tlaib, is leading a campaign to stop the deportations that include many Lebanese residents of the United States of America.

“The campaign aims to establish a temporary protection status for the Lebanese citizens who are in the United States, due to the devastating explosion in the Beirut port, and to temporarily grant them the refugee status,” Tlaib said in a statement on social media.

She also thanked a number of members of Congress who joined her campaign, including Jerry Nadler, Zoe Lovegreen, Debbie Dingle and Marcy Captur, stressing that “immigration policy in the United States must be based on kindness and not cruelty, and that the last thing you should do.” America is deporting friends to Lebanon in the wake of this tragedy. “
