The number of jobless claims in Brazil decreased by 32% monthly

The Brazilian Ministry of Economy announced, today, Thursday, that the number of applications for unemployment benefit fell last month to 653160 applications compared to 960309 requests last May.

The Bloomberg News indicated that the number of requests registered in the last month decreased by 32 percent from the previous month, while it rose by 28.4 percent during June of last year.

At the same time, the total number of applications for unemployment benefit during the first six months of this year amounted to 3.59 million applications, an increase of 14.8 percent over the same period last year.

The state of São Paulo registered the largest number of requests for unemployment benefit among the Brazilian states during the past month, amounting to 19,066.
