The Arab League welcomed, on Wednesday, the efforts made by Saudi Arabia to reactivate the Riyadh agreement between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council.

And at dawn today, Wednesday, Saudi Arabia announced its introduction of a mechanism for the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council, to accelerate work on implementing the Riyadh agreement reached last November.

The mechanism included items, the most prominent of which was the announcement of the Southern Transitional Council to abandon self-administration and the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, and to assign Prime Minister Moein Abdel Malek to form a government of political efficiencies within 30 days, to be shared equally between the North and the South.

It also included the appointment of a governor and a security director for Aden, the continuation of the ceasefire and the escalation between the legitimate government and the Southern Transitional Council, which has been in effect since June 22.

In addition to praising the mechanism and its provisions, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation valued the continuity of the Alliance to Support Legitimacy in supporting the efforts of the United Nations aimed at reaching a political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
