Feeling bored at home with the COVID-19 pandemic? If you are, you are not alone, and Sony seems to know that too because according to a new report released by Nikkei and Bloomberg news agencies, it seems Sony will boost Playstation 5 production by a huge margin in order to meet the expected demand for the next generation Playstation.

Playstation 5 is expected to launch this year and instead of producing 5 to 6 million units, which is what some analysts expected, reports claim that Sony may produce several million more, which will lead to the first production of up to 10 million units of Playstation 5.

This is a significant increase in the level of production, especially when you consider the fact that when the Playstation 4 was launched in 2013, Sony sold about 4.3 million units by the end of the year. By increasing production to 10 million units, this means that Sony expects to sell twice the number of units sold from Playstation 4, which is a risky forecast.

Sony is said to have increased its production rate because it wants to make sure there are enough units because players will want to get Playstation 5 to maintain entertainment in their lives. We still have to wait to see if these reports are accurate, but in case if they are correct then getting Playstation 5 for this holiday season might not be so difficult.
