Saudi Arabia participates in the work of the 113th session of the ALCO Executive Council


The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the Hundred and Thirteenth Session of the Executive Council of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALCO) which started its work today.
The Kingdom’s participation is a continuation of its continuous support for education, culture and science in the Arab world, led by Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the National Committee for Education, Culture and Science.
The Kingdom was represented at the session by the Secretary-General of the Committee, Hattan bin Munir bin Samman, where procedural items were discussed, and a review of a number of financial and administrative issues that would improve the organization’s performance, raise its efficiency, and raise the adequacy of science, scientific and technical research.
Members of the Council unanimously approved the appointment of the Kingdom’s candidate, Dr. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Shwerikh, as Director of the Education Department in the organization, in addition to the Kingdom’s joining as a member of the organization’s financial supervision authority.
The Executive Council meetings also discussed a number of files, topics and projects, evaluating and deciding on them, and agreeing on the executive decisions assigned to them in the fields of education, culture and science at the level of the Arab world. Dissemination and combating illiteracy in the Arab world, developing the relationship between contemporary media and education, and activating the role of community institutions in education.
It is noteworthy that the 113th regular session of the Executive Council of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science was scheduled to take place on the 15th of last April, but was postponed due to the pandemic conditions of the emerging Corona virus.
