Ziyash began training with his new team on Saturday for the first time since announcing his transfer from Ajax Amsterdam to Chelsea, for 33.3 million pounds last February.
Ziyash continued the Chelsea match with Norwich City on Tuesday in the English Premier League, which ended with the London team winning 1 – zero, stressing that he had always wanted to play for a major club in England.
Ziash, 27, made it clear in an interview published by Chelsea’s official website that he always looked to former Chelsea players John Terry, Didier Drogba and coach Frank Lampard as a role model.
The Moroccan player said: When you are young you always want to play for a big club in the English Premier League.
He added: When I was young, I was following the players who played here, Chelsea was always a great club, so I am very happy, when I was playing in the youth team of the Dutch club Heerenveen, I faced both Drogba, Lampard and Terry. All those big names, and if you look now, playing here at Chelsea means a lot to me.
Ziash played against Chelsea twice during the current Champions League version with Ajax, where the English team won 1 – zero in the first meeting that took place in the Dutch capital Amsterdam, before they drew 4-4 in an exciting confrontation between them at (Stamford Bridge) in the group stage of the competition Continental.
Ziyash pointed out that Lampard’s offensive playing style was a reason for choosing to join the Chelsea ranks.
Ziyash revealed: That was important to my decision. I love the reliable gameplay now. For me, the offensive performance was a big decision to come to Chelsea.
Ziash talked about the Chelsea and Ajax meeting in England, where he said: It was a crazy confrontation. If you are neutral then it was a great match for you. But for us it was otherwise because we were 4-1 ahead, but it was a crazy match. I think neutral fans love soccer for this reason, due to moments and encounters like this.
Although Ziach is signed for Chelsea, he is unable to play for the club until the 2020-2021 season.
Ziyash began training effectively before the end of the season, with his return in his last competitive match in March after ending the season in the Netherlands due to the spread of the new Corona virus.
