An illustrated report of Al-Ikhbaria revealed the history of the improvements made to the shrine of the Prophet of God Abraham, peace be upon him, the reasons for the disappearance of the fingers from the vicinity adjacent to the Holy Kaaba.
The report pointed out that the effects of successive times and human interaction with the Maqam are what contributed to the loss of traces of the feet of the Prophet Ibrahim, pointing out that the Maqam was subjected to a series of amendments that were aimed at preserving it.
Professor of Modern History at Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Youssef Al-Thaqafi Al-Maqam said he remained in his condition until the era of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, as he was deported by about 10 meters from the Kaaba to the east, in order to facilitate the process of circling the pilgrims. It has improvements in the Abbasid and Mamluk periods.
Al-Thaqafi indicated that the maqam had undergone improvements in the era of the Saudi state, starting from placing it in a template decorated with distinctive geometric shapes, until it surrounded it with unbreakable glass during the reign of King Faisal.
