World number two Romanian Simona Halep announced Wednesday her participation in the Prague International Course on Dirt Stadiums between the tenth and sixteenth of next August.
“Hello everyone, I am anxiously looking forward to participating in the wonderful city course in Prague, our date is in August,” Halep said in a video posted to the organizers’ Twitter account.
Halep, crowned by the Roland Garros 2018 and Wimbledon 2019 tournaments, announced in mid-July that she would participate in the Italian Palermo tournament in early August, which will also be held on dirt stadiums and will be the first after the emergency stop due to the Corona virus, which has been emerging since last March.
Halep’s participation in these two tournaments on the dirt pitch reinforces doubts about her participation in the United States Championship, the last of the Grand Slams, late August, which will be held on hard courts.
Halep seemed reluctant to participate in the Flushing Meadows Championship due to restrictions imposed by the emerging corona virus.
It is scheduled to resume the competitions of professional women players on the third of next August in Palermo, after it stopped since the eighth of last March.
The Professional Players Association added some tournaments to its calendar, including Prague and Kentucky, scheduled for August 10-17.
