Paris – The German coach of the French club Saint-Germain, Thomas Tochl, expressed his concern about the severe injury suffered by his attacking star Kylian Mbappe in the French Cup final, which comes weeks before the completion of the European Champions League.
The 21-year-old striker suffered a right ankle injury during the cup final match against St Etienne on Friday night, which ended with his team’s 1-0 victory by Brazilian Neymar.
Mbappe was injured after a brutal intervention by captain Saint-Etienne Luik Piran, causing a red card for the defender, who was likely to play his last match with his team. The St Germain striker left the field with a teardrop, and later returned using crutches for walking, and he wrapped his ankle.
“Everyone is worried,” Tokhul said. Everyone who saw the error is worried. Of course I’m worried. ”
He continued, “We have to be patient because we do not have any news (about the nature of the injury and how serious it is),” before the tests that he was to undergo.
The injury comes with St. Germain preparing for a second final at the local level, against Lyon in the League Cup competition next Friday, and the most important preparation for the completion of the Champions League next month.
French champions Atalanta will meet in the quarter-finals of the continental competition, which begins on 12 August in the Portuguese capital Lisbon. The competition will be completed with a final tournament system, after its competitions have been suspended since March due to the new Corona virus.
Saint-Etienne posted on his account on Twitter on Friday night Saturday, a picture of his captain accompanying Mbabi during his exit from the stadium, accompanied by a comment directed to Mbabi saying: “Luke Piran, Saint-Etienne, and French football hope to see you again on the field as soon as possible Available time”.
The St Germain striker reposted this tweet on Saturday morning.– (AFP)
