The Chairman of the Emirates Airlines Board of Directors said in a statement on Saturday that the company has terminated 10% of its employees due to the Corona virus, but that the percentage of jobs that will be abolished may reach 15%, or 9 thousand jobs.
Board Chairman Tim Clark estimated earlier that the company could take up to 4 years to get things back to normal “to some extent”.
Emirates Airlines has not yet released the number of job cuts, the most recent of which was last week.
The Middle East’s largest airline, which operates a fleet of 270 large-scale aircraft, suspended its flights in late March due to the Corona virus.
Two weeks later, it has resumed reduced activity, and plans to operate its flights to 58 cities by mid-August, compared to 157 before the health crisis.
