Turkish President Recep Tayyip said ErdoganToday, Friday, Egypt’s steps in Libya and its support for the Libyan National Army commander, Khalifa Haftar, are “illegal”.

This came in response to the Turkish President in response to a question regarding Egypt’s possible interference in Libya, in which Ankara supports the Al-Wefaq government in Tripoli and its militias..

Erdogan’s comments come hours after Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi confirmed, during his meeting with Libyan tribal leaders, on Thursday, that Egypt “will not stand idly by in the face of any direct threat to Egyptian and Libyan national security”.

The Libyan parliament had allowed, this week, the Egyptian army to intervene militarily in Libya, to repel “Turkish aggression”.
