“Cairo Film Festival” opens the forum for Arab participation

The Cairo International Film Festival has opened the door to presenting Arab film projects to participate in the seventh edition of the Cairo Film Forum, which will be held within the activities of the Cairo Film Days days from November 22 to 25 next. The festival announced that the presentation will be open until August 4, through its official website.
Among the conditions for progress is that the director of the participating film project be an Arab or of Arab origin, that his work is fiction or documentary long in the development or post-production stage, and that the director has previously worked on at least one film, whether it is long or short.
Producer Mohamed Hefzy, president of the festival, stressed that “the great challenge facing the Arab cinema industry, due to the” Corona crisis “, made the festival more keen to continue its role in providing support to film and television makers in the Arab world, via the Cairo Days Cinema Industry platform, Which annually succeeds in submitting projects that impose themselves on the map of festivals and awards. ” He added that «the Arab filmmaking in general needs more support, but after the pause imposed by the global epidemic, it has become more in need than ever, to mitigate the effects of the crisis, so the festival seeks in cooperation with partners and sponsors who believe in the importance of industry and the need to continue it, to expand In providing support during the 42nd session, scheduled for 19-28 November.
Alia Zaki, Director of Cairo Days for the Film Industry, explained that the “Cairo Forum”, under the management of Myriam Degheedi, succeeded last year in providing the largest support since its inception, reaching 200 thousand dollars. She pointed out that «ambitions to increase the volume of this support in the next session, so that the festival can help more Arab projects of films waiting to come to light, and therefore the Cairo Days Film Industry team makes a double effort to achieve this goal, especially after Corona caused a halt Or the postponement or amendment of most international cinematic events, which were playing a role in supporting cinema. She confirmed that the festival will be announced after the closing of the door for submission to the “Forum” for the participating projects and the list of awards, as well as sponsors and partners, in addition to the details of the activities of the Cairo Film Days days, which the festival is studying to set up electronically, in parallel with the activities held at the festival residence.
The festival had announced the holding of the 42th session as scheduled next November, in light of the gradual procedures to return life to normal, with full commitment to all measures and precautions approved by the Egyptian state and the World Health Organization, to ensure the safety of everyone, whether from the work team or participants from makers. The Days of Cairo Film Industry is a platform held in partnership with the Arab Cinema Center, and provides an important space for discussions, networking, meetings, workshops and lectures.
