Building an integrated database for the business sector in Abu Dhabi

The Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi, represented by the Abu Dhabi Business Center, is implementing a project to inventory data on economic establishments with the aim of building an integrated database that contributes to evaluating the business sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and preparing studies and indicators that help decision-makers in issuing decisions supportive to the business sector and investment in the emirate.
Rashid Abdul Karim Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Department, said that the project for restricting data of economic establishments requires cooperation by investors and businessmen through interaction in providing the required data and information when renewing their economic activity license.
He pointed out that the implementation of this project is necessary to provide a time series for the most important data of licensed economic establishments in Abu Dhabi that help to analyze the current conditions of these establishments, monitor the development of their activities, and know the extent of the impact of the fees and taxes system on their performance in a manner that supports the decision-maker in formulating directions aimed at Promote economic growth and diversification to achieve sustainable development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Rashid Al Balushi said that the project also aims to build a database of economic indicators and variables in coordination with the relevant authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with a view to obtaining the required data from its sources and updating them periodically so that the department can monitor and follow up on economic indicators periodically.
He explained that the department will send a notice to the owners of economic licenses registered with it via phone or e-mail stating that the required data are recorded when starting the annual renewal procedures, indicating that these data include total capital, annual revenues, number of employees, wages, salaries, rents, water and energy expenses .
He stated that the total number of economic licenses registered in Abu Dhabi reached 179048 licenses distributed to 147580 commercial licenses, 1918 industrial licenses, 2237 tourist licenses, 3609 professional licenses, 23461 craft licenses, 243 agricultural licenses and fish wealth.
The Undersecretary called on companies and institutions licensed by the Department to investigate accuracy, clarity and transparency in delivering the required data as an important part of the business sector assessment in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and a major source for preparing the required overall studies and indicators, indicating that the correct data is an important and important part for setting development and development plans.
It is worth noting that the required data will be obtained from the investors immediately after the licensing period by filling in electronic forms related to the establishment’s economic license, bearing in mind that the target segment is the effective and not the new enterprises, which in turn will not affect the indicators of competitiveness.
