Al-Ittihad – Corona death toll in Mexico exceeds 40,000


The Mexican Ministry of Health announced that the death toll of the Covid-19 epidemic in the country exceeded the threshold of forty thousand deaths out of about 350,000 confirmed cases of the new Corona virus.
The ministry said in its daily update of the number of injuries and deaths caused by the deadly epidemic that “the number of deaths reached 40,400” after it recorded 915 new deaths during the past 24 hours.
The first confirmed HIV infection was recorded in Mexico on February 28.
As for the total number of people infected with HIV in the country, it rose from 349,396 confirmed cases as of Monday to 356,255 confirmed cases as of Tuesday, which means that the number of new infections recorded during the past 24 hours amounted to 6859 cases.
Mexico, with a population of 127 million, is the second country in Latin America in terms of death toll from the virus, behind Brazil, which has recorded more than 80 thousand deaths.
At the international level, Mexico is the fourth country in the world in terms of the number of deaths resulting from the emerging corona virus, behind the United States, Brazil and Britain.
This week, President Manuel Lopez Obrador pledged to improve health standards in his country to help it cope with the dangers of the pandemic.
