A report by German Motor magazine Auto Sport und Sport indicated that Formula One will keep its plans flexible for the rest of this year, especially with regard to the continuing fog about Corona virus levels around the world.
Races were proposed in Imola, Hockenheim and Mugello, while it was almost certain that no races would be held in Baku, Singapore and Japan.
Among the ideas being studied is Sochi, given its location, the short distance from the airport and the ease of being able to isolate the Formula One crew from the outside world, which means that it is the perfect place to host two successive races.
This formula will be used for the rounds of Austria and Britain, where the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone arena will host two consecutive races.
A statement from Rosgoncke, the company promoting the Russian Grand Prix, confirmed talks with the Formula One world champions about the exact form of its plans for this year.
A spokesperson for the company told our Motorsport.com website: “We are working with our Formula One colleagues currently on many different options to host the Russia Grand Prix. This applies to the weekend formula and the number of races.”
He added: “If necessary, we do not rule out the possibility of two rounds. Sochi has an amazing modern infrastructure that is favored by our partners. On the organizational level, the Rosguncke team is ready for several weekend in Sochi.”
“The final version of the race will be decided after further consultations with experts and analysts on the current state of the epidemic,” he concluded.
