Paris Saint-Germain refuses to renew Tiago Silva

The L’Equipe sports newspaper reported on Monday that the Brazilian team’s captain and defender Tiago Silva and the French Football Association champion Paris Saint-Germain will leave the capital this summer.

The newspaper said in its news, which was confirmed by Radio “Monte Carlo” that the sports director of the former Brazilian international Parisian club Leonardo informed his citizen of the decision not to renew his contract, which ends on June 30.

The decision is a disappointment for Silva, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2012 and whose wife Isabel expressed in the middle of last May his hope to stay in the French capital, saying: For us, it would be nice to continue in Paris Saint-Germain, we love the club, This is where our children grew up, and in Paris we would like to continue our journey.

But with internally estimated losses of more than 200 million euros after the final cessation of the French League due to the “Covid-19” virus, there was a need to reduce the salaries of players that exceed 300 million euros, as Thiago Silva is one of the main elements in the squad that gets large salaries.

And Silva, who previously defended the colors of Milan, can return to playing in his country, especially in the ranks of his former team, Fluminense, who recently appeared wearing a shirt bearing his name, in a photo posted on social media.

Silva was crowned with Paris Saint-Germain with seven league titles, four in the cup competition, five in the League Cup and seven in the Champions Cup.
