Luis Enrique, coach of the Spanish national team, has recalled the memories of his leadership of Barcelona to win the Champions League title at the expense of Juventus in the 2015 Berlin final.
Led by trio Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, Barcelona managed to beat the Bianconeri 3-1 in Berlin.
When I spoke to Barcelona TV, Luis Enrique recalled, “I remember, I asked the players, what do you think, the worst thing that could happen to us today?”
He added: “Xavi Hernandez, Danny Alves, the veterans, have said that we are not faithful to our approach to football.”
Enrique added: “I told them, the worst thing is to be a Juventus player and you have to face Barcelona.”
He continued: “Imagine you are trying to stop Suarez, Messi, Neymar, Iniesta and Busquets, trying to score in Ter Stegen, Alvaro Morata trying to pass from Pique and Mascherano, Evra defends against Alves.”
“It was a little joke, but in fact I imagined that we were Juventus’ place and we were talking about the Barcelona team!”
