US stocks jumped today, Wednesday, supported by hopes of an economic recovery after the easing of isolation measures due to the Corona virus, which helped investors look beyond the social turmoil in the United States and fears of the pandemic.
Gains in the banking, industry and technology sectors pushed the three major Wall Street indices to close higher. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq indexes posted strong gains for the fourth consecutive session.
The Dow Jones industrial average ended the trading session up 527.24 points, or 2.05% to 26269.89 points while the broader Standard & Poor’s 500 Index jumped 42.05 points, or 1.36%, to close at 3122.87 points.
The Nasdaq Composite Index, which was dominated by technology shares, closed 0.76% to 9,681.11 points.
