Bayern win Leverkusen and move away with the top of the German Sports League – international stadiums


Bayern Munich continued their progress towards the crowning title of the German Football League (Bundesliga) for the eighth consecutive season and defeated its host Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 today, Saturday in the thirtieth stage of the competition.

In other matches today in the same phase, Mainz defeated its host Eintracht Frankfurt 2 – 0 and Leipzig tied with its guest Paderborn 1 – 1 and Hoffenheim with its host Fortuna Dusseldorf 2 – 2.

Bayer Leverkusen opened the scoring by Lucas Nicholas Alaryo in the ninth minute, then Bayern Munich responded with three goals scored by Kingsley Coman, Leon Goritska and Seri Napri in the 27th, 42nd and 45th minutes. In the second half, Robert Lewandowski added Bayern’s fourth goal in the 66th minute, then substitute Florian Richard Vertz finished the second goal with Leverkusen in the 89th minute.

Bayern Munich raised its score to 70 points in the lead, ten points behind second-placed Borussia Dortmund, which hosts Hertha Berlin today, while Bayer Leverkusen’s balance stood at 56 points in fifth place.

Bayern Munich took revenge for their two defeats in their last two matches against Leverkusen, where they lost 1 – 3 in the second round in Bundesliga last season, then lost to it 1 – 2 in the first leg of this season at the “Allianz Arena”.
