Munich: Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara has extended his contract with Bayern Munich football club for an indefinite period, according to local press reports on Tuesday.
The German newspaper “Bild” indicated that the 29-year-old Spaniard extended his contract with the Bavarian club, which was scheduled to end in June 2021.
Thiago has defended Bayern’s colors since 2013, when he joined Barcelona from Spain, in a deal worth 25 million euros.
The midfielder won the Bundesliga title with Bayern six times, won the cup title three times, and scored 31 goals in 227 games.
In the past seven seasons, the German champion has extended the contracts of a number of his members recently, such as coach Hansi Flick and striker Thomas Muller, until the year 2023.
The club, which was leading the Bundesliga, four points behind Borussia Dortmund before the competition stopped in mid-March due to the new Corona virus, is in negotiations over the contracts of its captain, goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and Austrian international David Alaba.
