The Syrian Ministry of Health commented on what was circulated about the closure of the port of Tartous after suspending the case of Corona, and said that the port is “operating normally”.
Health Minister Nizar Yazigi said that “the issue is not like this” and explained that “upon examining one of the elements of the Russian side at the port, it gave a positive result and its accuracy reached 70 percent.”
“In the interest of the Ministry of Health for the health of workers and the public health of the people, the workers were prevented from leaving the port until the examinations of all those in contact with the suspected case,” Yazji said.
He stressed that the results of the checks of all workers were negative (uninfected) and therefore they were allowed to go out to their homes.
The minister pointed out that the port is operating normally, adding that “a second (PCR) test of the suspected case will be conducted tomorrow to confirm or deny that it has infected the virus.”
