The Qatari authorities announced the suspension of sports activity since mid-March, in line with a similar step taken by the vast majority of countries in the world with the outbreak of the “Covid 19” epidemic.
After announcing in mid-May that the suspension be extended until the end of the month, the Olympic Committee confirmed that the completion of the competitions would be available in the last third of July.
“In line with the preventive measures taken by the State of Qatar to reduce the spread of the Corona virus (Covid 19), and in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health, it has been decided to extend the suspension of local sporting activities and competitions until next July 20, provided that the rest of the sports activity is completed , As of July 20, in order to ensure the safety of all athletes and participants ».
In line with this, the Qatar Football Association indicated that the competitions will be completed between “July 24 to August 26 next.”
He stressed that determining the return comes after “holding consultations with officials in the Ministry of Health in order to preserve the safety of all those involved in the matches, including players, technical and administrative equipment and referees.”
While the authorities have not formally announced whether the fans will be allowed to attend the matches, it is expected that this will be the approved measure, at least in the first period, as in the various international championships that complete their competitions after the interruption period due to “Coffed 19”.
