The Corona epidemic “Covid-19” has killed more than a quarter of a million people, more than 85% of them in Europe and the United States alone, since the new Corona virus appeared for the first time in China last December, according to a census conducted by Agence France-Presse Lille. The two are based on official sources.
The census conducted until 22:30 GMT showed that the pandemic killed 250 thousand and 203 people out of three million and 570 thousand and 93 infected with the virus.
The highest death toll in the world was recorded in the United States (68 thousand and 689 deaths), followed by Italy (29 thousand and 79 deaths), then Britain (28 thousand and 734 deaths), Spain (25 thousand and 428 deaths) and France (25 thousand and 201 deaths).
In terms of the distribution of deaths on continents, the list topped Europe, with the number of victims of the deadly epidemic reaching 140,23 people.
This toll was prepared on the basis of data collected by the offices of Agence France-Presse from the competent national authorities and information published by the World Health Organization.
This number reflects only a portion of the actual number of the injured, as tests to detect injuries in a number of countries are limited to cases requiring hospital care.
Several studies published Monday suggested that the number of deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States will reach the threshold of one hundred thousand by the month of June, while excluding the spread of infection in this country during the summer.
According to the World Health Organization, the eradication of the pandemic that has paralyzed the entire world economy will only take place after the discovery of a vaccine or treatment for the virus.
