Kingdom Channel – Israel will continue its operations in Syria until the “departure” of Iran

On Tuesday, the Israeli Minister of Defense, Naftali Bennett, confirmed that his country will continue its operations in Syria until the “departure” of Iran from it, in a statement that comes in the wake of raids targeting Iranian forces and Iraqi loyalist groups in eastern Syria, which, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, killed 14 fighters. .

“Iran has nothing to do with Syria … We will not stop before they (the Iranians) leave Syria,” Bennett said in an interview with the Israeli “Kan 11” television channel, without explicitly announcing his country’s responsibility for the raids that took place Monday night in Deir Governorate Al-Zour in eastern Syria.

He added that Iran “entered” Syria within the framework of the war that has been going on in this country since 2011, and seeks to “consolidate” a place on the Israeli border in order to threaten Israeli cities.

“Iran has become a burden. In the past, they (the Iranians) were a source of strength for the Syrians, they helped Assad against ISIS, but they became a burden,” he said, calling on Tehran to focus on managing the crisis caused by the outbreak of the new Corona virus in Iran.

At least 14 Iranian fighters and Iraqi groups loyal to them were killed in raids that targeted, at night, sites in the Deir Ezzor Governorate in eastern Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights on Tuesday.

The raids in Deir Ezzor came shortly after an aerial bombardment that Damascus accused Israel of carrying out and targeted military warehouses in the Al-Safira area in the Aleppo governorate in the north.

And Iranian and Iraqi forces supporting the Syrian government forces are deployed in a wide area in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, especially between the border cities of Albukamal and Al-Mayadeen.

In recent years, Israel has intensified the frequency of its bombing in Syria, targeting mainly Syrian army positions and Iranian and other Hezbollah targets.
